The Challenge of a Hungry Heart

Travel is something that has always added some excitement to my life. Doesn’t matter if it’s driving to another town in Latvia or flying to a new destination worldwide, the excitement is there.

The same goes for me as a photographer. Having days when I can travel gives me a different perspective – here photographing airBaltic airplane taking off at Riga airport.

I talk a lot about how each of us is different energetically – one needs predictable work and routine while it doesn’t really work for somebody else. I have found that Human Design gives me such good explanation about how I am and what I need in order to feel my happiest.

Let me explain.

I feel the need for adventure as the archetype of the “Hungry heart” or gate 35 is activated in my chart. People with this energy active in their chart will always be seeking for new experiences and feel hungry to live life fully. They cannot be expected to feel happy in a routine that never changes. These people crave change and the unknown. They are the ones who learn through their experiences. So the next time you are on an airBaltic flight, or any other airline for that matter, ask yourself how many hungry hearts are on this plane?

Each energy archetype has its shadow side and the highest expression. A person with this energy’s highest expression is almost like a “jack of all trades” with insatiable curiosity, adaptability and the ability to jump from project to project or even the capability to move through multiple high-stake projects. Oprah is a great example of this description.

Gate 35 is also known to be activated in well-known inventor’s charts such as Nicola Tesla. He could visualize the entire new mechanisms, before turning them into reality. That’s the energy of adventure and boundlessness in its highest expression. The visualization part particularly can probably be explained with the energy 11 archetype – the ideas and visualization, but let’s leave that for another time.

On the shadow side this energy gives you hunger – the illusion that the new job, new country or a vacation will change something in your life. It can become an endless doing or jumping from one thing to the next without finishing any of them. If dissatisfaction with the current life situation is deep, the person can become addicted to chasing adrenaline physically or can give up on life completely, becoming cynical. These people can also become addicted to substances due to insatiable feeling of hunger inside.

If you are an owner of a hungry heart and you find yourself stuck in the shadow side of this energy the trick is shifting focus from destination to journey. Journey means being alive for people like you and me.

With this article I want to show you that understanding our energy can help us embrace our uniqueness more fully hence choosing to live a more fulfilled life. I believe that the biggest problem for most of us is that we learn to fit into a box that doesn’t fit us at all and we keep suffering for years on end, becoming sick or depressed, when the solution lies in understanding who you truly are. I know it sounds easy, but when you have spent decades learning to fit in, you will also spend decades learning to embrace your true self, accepting that it is ok to be you.

Trust me - it is OK to be you. So go and spread your wings.
