Is Your Eating Routine Working Against You?

Updated: Sep 30

What if I told you that digestion is one of the biggest factors influencing your energy levels? What if the key to feeling better wasn’t about the amount of calories you eat, but how and when you eat?

Imagine this: your body digests food more efficiently in a quiet environment, yet you keep eating in busy cafés just to fit in. Or maybe your system thrives on a main meal after sunset because your body feels more active in the dark hours - but you ignore that instinct because it’s not the “standard advice.”

This isn’t something a typical nutrition coach would suggest, but here’s the truth: we’re all different. Deep down, you already sense what works best for you. The real challenge is listening to that inner wisdom instead of forcing yourself into routines that don’t align with your body’s natural rhythm.

In Human Design, digestion doesn’t only refer to how your body processes food - it’s also about how you take in and process information from the world around you.

For example:

If cold foods are optimal for you, everything below body temperature will support your energy - salads, juices, raw vegetables, smoothies. In contrast, heavy, greasy, or “warming” meals may leave you sluggish.

If you have buzzing digestion, eating in company or with lively sounds around works best. Likewise, you’ll likely learn and process information better in group settings.

With indirect light digestion, heavier meals may sit better once the sun is down, and you might also notice more energy flowing in the evening.

As you can see there's different digestion types. I'm mentioning just a few to show how different we are. When you align with your digestion type, you give your body and mind the right conditions to fuel clarity, learning, and purpose - while avoiding unnecessary struggle. Energy is your most valuable resource, and how you take it in truly matters.

Human Design has been my go-to tool for understanding myself more deeply.

Cold salads, buzzing dinner parties, or late-night snacks - your digestion type isn’t just about food, it’s about how you process life. Curious what your digestion type might be? I promise it’s more fun than reading the back of a cereal box.

Mine changed the way I see my energy. Want to know yours?
